Magcobar Photograph Collection (Richard Donovan Family)

This collection consists of selections of 39 photographs, company newsletters from 1956 and 1962, and a ca. 1970 catalog that document the operations of the Xact Clays and Magcobar companies in southern Angelina County, south of Zavalla,between the early 1940's and early 1960's, donated by Richard Donovan and Eva Berry Farley. Magcobar (Magnet Cove Barium Corporation) mined for bentonite clay in southern Angelina and northern Jasper counties and produced high grade drilling muds. Richard Donovan, his father Allen, his wife Bonnie, and his sister-in-law Eva were company employees and are featured in the selections below.
