One of the ways The History Center fulfills its mission to "Collect, Preserve, and Make Available" the history of our area is through an ongoing project to digitize parts of our collection and offer them to researchers on the website. This week, staff have uploaded several new items to the online collections section, which can be accessed by clicking here. Of particular interest to local residents, the Martha Honea Quarles Photograph Collection contains 18 images that document life in Diboll in the 1940's and 1950's, particularly Diboll High School students in the early 1950's. Those interested in the East Texas lumber industry will find the Yellow Pine Lumber Company Financial Ledger, from 1889, to be a useful research tool. Additionally, we have added Lufkin Foundry & Machine Company Payroll Book 5 (April 1911-June1912) as part of our ongoing project to process and digitze the large Lufkin Industries Collection.
