Miller, Larry

In this interview with Jonathan Gerland, Larry Miller reminisces about his early life and career in forestry. Larry speaks about his childhood hospitalization and bad hip, education in forestry and genetics from Oklahoma State University, and tree improvement programs. Throughout his life, he played a role in establishing nurseries and orchards for the Weyerhaeuser Company, Temple-Eastex/Temple-Inland, and public entities like Texas A&M or the US Forestry Service. He describes, in detail, the ways they were used to ensure seed supplies and introduce favorable genetic traits. He also worked with the Western Gulf Tree Improvement Cooperative to coordinate programs in five states.
