On October 28, Sheryl Small visited The History Center to add to her family collections. The Frazier-Runnels Family Collection documents her grandparents, Harrison and Mary Frazier and her great grandparents, James and Emma Runnels. The Frazier and Runnels families were landowners, farmers, sawyers, and pillars of the community in the Boykin Settlement and Vernon County Line communities in far southern Angelina County throughout the 20th century. Mrs. Small continues to add to the family collection here at The History Center so that others can benefit from their story. Included in this donation are poll tax receipts, documentation from the purchase of a singer sewing machine in the 1890's, and correspondence with the John Deere company, among other papers. Family members Arverta Mosely Frazier and Rose Frazier Corder sat for an oral history interview in 2010 - the transcript and audio can be found here. One of their cousins, Helen Darden, also gave an interview, and it can be found here.
The History Center is grateful to all of the families that entrust their family papers, photographs, and records to us for preservation, which allow us to continue to tell all of our communities' stories.
