The December 2011 issue of the Pine Bough Magazine was mailed to our subscribers today. The 44-page issue features the history of Fort Teran, an 1831 Mexican outpost on the Neches River, in Tyler County, and Helen Darden's memories of growing up in the 1920s and 1930s in the Boykin Settlement community in northern Jasper and southern Angelina counties, near the Blue Hole, a former rock quarry known for its clear blue water.
The Pine Bough is published annually, and a subscription is included in History Center membership dues of at least $12. Print versions of back issues are available at The History Center for $5 each, or you may access them in the Pine Bough section as PDF files.
