Citizens at Last - Celebrating International Women’s Day

In celebration of International Women's Day, The History Center is celebrating committee member, patron, and friend Ellen Temple and her documentary film "Citizens at Last: Texas Women Fight for the Vote," which premiers on Austin PBS on March 19 and will be available to watch online and through their streaming platforms after broadcast. Using well known historians, historical reenactments, and an abundance of archival images (several from The History Center) and footage, the film tells the story of the Texas women who fought for their fellow Texas women's rights to be full citizens. Learn more at the film's website.

The History Center congratulates Ellen and her team on their excellent film and honors the women who sacrificed so much in the face of fierce opposition in order to ensure Texas women could participate in their own government.
