United States Black Eagle Silver Certificate Collection, ca. 1911-1912

This collection contains one $1 “Black Eagle” silver certificate from the 1899 series that was most likely issued during the latter half of William Howard Taft’s presidency in 1911 or 1912. Its most interesting feature is the signature of Register of the Treasury James Carroll Napier, an African American who served in the post from 1911 to 1913.
