Joseph Robert Telford Jr. was born in Zavalla, Angelina County, on September 24, 1940, to parents Joseph Robert Telford and Mary Platte Burges Telford. His sister was Mary Frances Telford Sheffield. He attended Diboll High School and was very active in sports, FFA, and student government. After graduating, he moved to Canada to work for the mining company Mannix Ltd. Co. It was during this time that he married Charlotte Juskon Telford. On October 17, 1961, at the age of twenty-one, he died in a truck crash near Coleman, Alberta, Canada. This collection contains a football photograph from 1958 and a Vocational Agriculture FFA letterman jacket from Diboll High School from 1956. The letterman jacket contains numerous award pins that reflect his school activities and interests. There are also scans of diplomas for Mary Frances Telford, Telford Jr.’s sister, and her future husband James Clayton “Buster” Sheffield.
