The Angelina County News was created after Paul Durham Jr., who founded the Diboll News Bulletin in 1952, decided to rename the newspaper in July 1958 to reflect its broader coverage. Published in Huntington, Texas, it covered news from the entire county with an emphasis on Huntington events and people. The paper ran until 1960, when it was again renamed to the Diboll Free Press.
