In 1986, the Angelina Sesquicentennial Committee commissioned a statue in honor of Angelina, an important Native American woman in the history of Angelina County. Jim Knox, a sculptor from Tucson, Arizona, was the artist chosen for the project. On December 2, 1986, the statue of Angela was unveiled and dedicated in the central plaza of the Lufkin Civic Center. This collection contains articles, clippings, and a DVD with information on the statues historical background, the sculptor’s biography, and dedication from 1975-2012, undated.
