Jane Ainsworth is a Lufkin native who graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with an MBA from The Wharton School. She graduated from Lufkin High School and collected materials to remember her time there. Charlie Wilson was a United States Representative and Lufkin native. In 1972, his work in the U. S. Congress was recognized by the State of Texas through his appointment as Governor for A Day. During that program, Wilson recognized the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas, located outside Livingston. This collection contains student publications made at Lufkin High School in the 1970s. Most prominently, this collection features newspaper articles, programs, and brochures related to U. S. Representative Charlie Wilson and his service as “Governor for a Day” in 1972. Also included are a newspaper from Washington, D. C. and a Texas Department of Transportation brochure.
