Southern Pine Lumber Company's fire control system requires stationary outposts in communication with company planes and ground vehicles. Jules Nogle, manager of treating plant sales standing by one of the 80 foot poles treated at Southern Pines plant. Pole located near the home of one of the woods riders, also has spikes to the top which make it double as an emergency look-out.
