Shawnee Prairie School Number 43

The community of Shawnee Prairie is one of the oldest in Angelina County, and its school was organized by 1885, being included in the county School Registry of that year. It was classified as an elementary in 1919 and as a two year high school in 1930. It consolidated with Manning School in 1940 as an elementary school and closed in 1952.
