Planting the Shortleaf Pine, Pineland on Parade, 1958

Pineland Mayor Carl Sanders, Diboll Booster Club member Aubrey Cannon (first two on left), and Angelina County Judge Edward McFarland (far right) look on as Diboll Booster Club President Calvin Lawrence and Pineland Service Club President Bill Nichols plant the shortleaf pine tree given to Pineland in honor of the first Pineland on Parade celebration in July 1958. Local boys, including Bobby Amason, investigate the helicopter that brought the Diboll dignitaries to Pineland for the ceremony. Pineland's officials gave an oak tree to Diboll in the same ceremony.
