The December 2010 issue of the Pine Bough Magazine was mailed to our subscribers today. The 48-page issue features the history of the county school system in Angelina County, from the 1880s through the early 1960s. Included are numerous photographs and a map from 1924 showing early school district lines. Also featured is Howard Walker, county school superintendent during the 1920s and 1930s, who fought for preservation of the official county school records, part of The History Center’s research collections.
The Pine Bough is published annually, and a subscription is included in History Center membership dues of at least $12. Print versions of back issues are available at The History Center for $5 each, or you may access them in our Pine Bough section as PDF files.
