May 1, 2020 COVID-19 Operations Update

After careful consideration of Governor Abbott’s guidelines, all History Center staff returned to the building on May 1 to continue serving our patrons and researchers and fulfill the Center’s mission. Staff are maintaining appropriate social distancing, monitoring health, and continuing to clean and sanitize their workspaces and public areas.

Beginning Monday, May 4, 2020, The History Center will begin the processes of reopening. Until further notice, the research room will be open to individual researchers by appointment. Please call 936-829-3543 or email info@TheHistoryCenterOnline.com to schedule an appointment with the Director. Staff will also be happy to answer questions or assist researchers by phone and email.

Also until further notice, indoor and outdoor exhibits are closed and we are not currently scheduling any group tours.

The History Center thanks all of its regular visitors, patrons, and researchers for their continued patience and support at this time. We have been encouraged by many of our online users, and we thank them for their kindness. Staff is working hard to continue our mission of collecting, preserving, and making available the history of our region and its people while protecting the health of our colleagues and communities.
