The History Center and the T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library are proud to be partnering with Humanities Texas, the Museum of East Texas, Kurth Memorial Library, Angelina College, Texas Forestry Museum, Angelina County Historical Commission, and the Angelina County Genealogical Society at the East Texas History Harvest on September 16, 2017. From 10:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m., local citizens are encouraged to bring historic photos, documents, and memorabilia to the Museum of East Texas (503 N. 2nd Street Lufkin, TX) where representatives from Humanities Texas and local historical organizations will scan their materials to add to a community wide digital database. Those with historical materials will not have to leave their family photos or papers with the organization - they will be scanned while they wait and returned immediately, along with a flash drive with digital copies that they can then share with family and friends. This is an excellent way for families to digitize some of their best family photos and documents, but more importantly, it is a way to preserve these memories for the benefit of the community as a whole. For questions, contact any of the organizations involved: The Museum of East Texas 936-639-4434, The History Center 936-829-3543, the T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library: 936-829-5497. We hope to see you September 16!
