The overhead irragation system operated on the 72-acre Texas Forest Service Indian Mound Nursery in Cherokee County near Alto. The Indian Mound is observed in the background. Over 15 million seedlings were grown in this nursery in 1949 and distributed to Texans. for reforestatoin purposes. Visible on the Mound is the 1936 historical marker.
